ASECAP, the European Association of Operators of Toll Road Infrastructures is pleased to announce that António Nunes de Sousa, President of APCAP, the Portuguese Association of Toll Highways Concessionaires has been elected as ASECAP President for the year 2022 during the General Assembly which took place on December 14th.
“I’m delighted to congratulate António Nunes de Sousa on taking the helm as President of ASECAP for 2022. António’ skills and expertise will bring great value to ASECAP and the toll road infrastructure companies” said ASECAP Secretary General and CEO Malika Seddi.
António started his career in 1981 as a designer of roads and bridges. In 1983 he worked at the National Road Administration where he was appointed Head of Concessions in 1996. He joined BRISA in 1999 where he had been a Board member of 5 concessionaires, including at CCR in Brazil. He is Board Advisor at Brisa and is member of the Board of BCR (Brisa main concession). He has been Board member of APCAP since 2010 and President since March 2019.
“I am particularly honored to serve as 2022 ASECAP President at this particular time and I can ensure the ASECAP membership that I will put all my efforts and energy in facing the new challenges ahead. The climate and environmental emergency as well as the health and economic crises as consequences of COVID 19 impacts have put transport at the heart of the European agenda. I will build on my predecessors works and initiatives to highlight the contribution of our sector to the Economy and Society. Road infrastructure has also a major role to play in reaching the ambitious goal sets up by the European Union to be carbon neutral by 2050.” said António Nunes de Sousa, newly elected ASECAP President.
