In the presence of the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, the promotion of the brochure "Guide for safe driving in tunnels" was held in the premises of the “Saobraćajni institut CIP” in Belgrade.
The brochure is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia, PE "Roads of Serbia", the Traffic Safety Agency and the “Saobraćajni institut CIP”.
The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, pointed out that the guide was designed to educate drivers on how to behave in tunnels to avoid an accident and how to react if an accident were to occur. He added that in Serbia we have 17 road tunnels with a length of 22.5 kilometers, and that another 18.5 kilometers of new tunnels are being built.
That is why, according to Minister Vesić, it was decided to make a special brochure for safe driving in tunnels with the aim of reaching all drivers, as it will be distributed during car registration, at toll booths and in driving schools.
Slaven Tica, director of the "Saobraćajni institut CIP", greeted the gathered. Zoran Pešović, Executive Director of the Sector for Traffic Management Information Systems of PE "Roads of Serbia" spoke about the importance of tunnel management, as a very important element of road infrastructure, and presented ways of managing traffic infrastructure, while Zlatko Stevanović from the “Saobraćajni institut CIP” spoke about technical elements and systems in modern tunnels.
The presentation was attended by Miroslav Alempić, Assistant Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Luka Čaušić, Assistant Minister of Interior and Head of the Department for Emergency Situations, Assistant Directors of PE "Roads of Serbia" Ivan Tejić and Miodrag Poledica and Branko Stamatović, Director of the Traffic Safety Agency as well as members of the team of the “Saobraćajni institut CIP”.
There was also a screening of a short film about the simulation of fire in the tunnel.
