On the initiative of the representatives of the Traffic Administration of the Government of the Republic of Montenegro - the manager of state roads, on November 7, 2024, a professional visit was made to the Sector for Traffic Management Information System, Department for Databases and Geo-Information Systems, with the aim of getting better acquainted with the work processes and exchanging experience with colleagues from Serbia in the field of database development and improvement.
Colleagues from Montenegro were presented with activities on the establishment and development of databases and application software. The central geospatial database with the associated GIS Portal is shown, which is intended for employees of PE "Roads of Serbia", with a note that through the website of our company, other users are also able to access certain contents from the database.
The guests were presented with a database on roads, traffic counting, databases on facilities (bridges, tunnels, etc.), databases on railroad crossings, traffic accidents.
The meeting also discussed challenges in updating data, ways to organize their collection in the field and all other data sources that are available.
The representatives of the Traffic Administration of Montenegro were also shown a vehicle equipped with the "Dynatest" equipment, which is used by PE "Roads of Serbia" to record the state of roads (road pavement level, etc.).
The rapid development of modern technologies dictates the constant need for employee training as well as real needs for hardware infrastructure, which requires consideration of data storage options resorting to the choice of cloud technologies. It was jointly stated that these are the challenges that employees in this field face, and the exchange of experience is always useful, to which such visits make a great contribution.
