PE "Roads of Serbia", the Sector for Traffic Management Information System implements the supervision and management of traffic on the network of state roads of the I and II category.
Department for Traffic Surveillance and Management is organized through regional, operational-management and tunnel centers, with constant duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and includes:
- continuous monitoring and observation of all emergency events and event alarms that affect the safety of road users,
- timely undertaking of prescribed activities with the aim of maximum support for safe and stable traffic on state roads,
- detection of failures on installed equipment
Ivan Terzić, assistant executive director of the Sector for Traffic Management Information Systems emphasized the importance of traffic monitoring and management for the development of the road network and the improvement of traffic safety, saying that a significant indicator of the training of our employees and the high-quality technical systems installed in the tunnels is the fact that there were no casualties in the tunnels in 2023 and 2024.
The educational campaigns “Safely through the tunnel” and “We are not alone in the tunnel” are a step towards informing and educating all road users, all with the aim of increasing traffic safety, Terzić concluded.
