The Road Rehabilitation and Safety Project (RRSP) is a project of support from international financial institutions to the Government of the Republic of Serbia in the implementation of the National Program for the Rehabilitation of the State Road Network.
The goal of the project is the provision of technical documentation in the form of the main project of enhanced maintenance, which ensures: increasing the use value and durability of the road, improving traffic safety, including the requirements of the local community (social aspect) and respecting the requirements of environmental protection to the maximum extent possible in the given conditions of spatial limitation (section context) and restrictions arising from the type of permitted construction and traffic interventions (legal basis).
The section Ivanjica - Sjenica is an integral part of the state road I B category number 21 (old road designation is R-117) on the route Novi Sad - Irig - Ruma - Šabac - Koceljeva - Valjevo - Kosjerić - Požega - Arilje - Ivanjica - Sjenica. The section belongs to the Moravica and Zlatibor administrative districts located in the south-western part of the Republic of Serbia.
The performed works on enhanced maintenance of the exact section, from km 288+208,650 to km 309+123,689, with a length of 20,915 km, represent the first phase of the realization of the rehabilitation of the entire section Ivanjica – Sjenica, with a total length of 61,336 km.

Works on the rehabilitation of the section include preparatory works (removal of vegetative material, clearing of bushes, removal of existing culverts, demolition of existing elements (concrete curbs, culverts), demolition of asphalt on part of the structure, scraping of asphalt layers, earthworks (excavation of humus, excavation of materials, construction of embankments , arrangement of beds, humus of banks, lining of slopes), works on the production of the upper machine (production of bearing layers from crushed stone 0/63 and 0/31.5 mm, production of the upper bearing layer by the process of cold recycling), asphalt works (production of leveling layer, production of the bearing layers of BNS, BNHS and ABS with polymer bitumen on the main route, intersections, bus stops, niches), construction of a concrete channel, works on the rehabilitation of 2 bridges, works on the improvement of the drainage system (rehabilitation of the existing 75 culverts and construction of 16 new ones, excavation of canals), works on retaining walls (21 existing and 28 new), works on slope protection, works on traffic signals and equipment, works on construction of footpaths through all populated areas, etc.
