PE "Roads of Serbia" informs the public that tomorrow, on September 30, 2025, load testing of the bridge over the Sava River near Sremska Rača begins.
The test will be carried out in 6 stages, separately for each structure, in accordance with the approved Bridge Test Program by test load.
Reinforced concrete access structures are being loaded with 6 trucks weighing 35 tons each, and steel structures with 8 trucks weighing 42 tons each.
After installing the measuring devices, a static test is first carried out, by loading the bridge with vehicles of defined weight and characteristics according to a predefined load scheme.
The measurement monitors the deflections of the supports, the stresses in the armature, the movements of the supports and the rotation of the bearings.
This is followed by a dynamic test, which is carried out by passing the vehicle at different speeds. Eigen- frequencies, oscillation amplitude and damping coefficient are being analyzed.
By comparing the obtained results with the calculated values, we arrive at the goal of testing the bridge with a test load, which is the confirmation of the compliance of the derived state with the designed calculations, as well as the confirmation that the full load-bearing capacity and stability of the bridge is ensured, when a report can be issued with a recommendation for putting the bridge into operation.
The bridge over the Sava River near Sremska Rača on the Kuzmin - Sremska Rača highway section has been structurally completed.
The bridge is 1,320 m long (540 m + 330 m + 450 m) and consists of three parts:
- Approach structure on the left bank - 540 m - concrete structure (Republic of Serbia)
- Structure over the Sava River - 330 m - steel structure
- Approach structure on the left bank - 450 m - concrete structure (Republika Srpska).
Bridges are key infrastructure facilities whose safety, stability, load capacity, reliability and durability have a direct impact on traffic safety and transport continuity.
According to the legal regulations, after the completion of the construction or reconstruction of the bridge, it is necessary to perform a trial test of the structure in order to confirm that the object was constructed in accordance with the project documentation, that it behaves within the limits of the calculations and that it meets all legal and technical requirements.
In this way, the safety of road users and users of the bridge is ensured, and data is obtained for future maintenance (design of the Bridge Maintenance Program) and observation of the behavior (monitoring) of the bridge during exploitation.
