Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, prof. Zorana Mihajlović, PhD, visited on 3rd July, 2020, together with the Acting Director, Zoran Drobnjak, the bridge over the river Ljuboviđa at Ljubovija, which collapsed due to flooding in June this year and also the bridge over the river Trešnjica on the state road Ljubovija-Bajina Bašta, which had been closed for heavy traffic during the previous year.
Mihajlović said on that occasion that investment in roads in this part of Serbia had not been low and that, through various projects, in the last couple of years, the amount of 9 billion dinars had been invested in roads in the Mačva District.
Minister Mihajlović pointed out that the bridge over the river Trešnjica on the state road Ljubovija-Bajina Bašta had been in use for heavy vehicles weighing over 3 tons for several days already and that around thirty million dinars had been invested in the works on the bridge. Minister Mihajlović added that heavy vehicles, more than three hundred of them a day, would not have to use the detour via Valjevo and Debelo Brdo and travel 120 km, but would, via that bridge and the road from Ljubovija to Bajina Bašta, travel only 54 kilometres, which would significantly reduce costs and travel time, with increased traffic safety.
Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that her and her team would continue to monitor the implementation of all projects, together with the Head of the Municipality and that everything promised would be completed as well.
Acting Director of PE “Roads of Serbia”, Zoran Drobnjak, said that a project of remedy of the bridge over the river Ljuboviđa was currently being worked on and it would be completed in the next month and a half and added that in seven days, a deviation would be made which would be used for traffic during the execution of works on the bridge and, in that way, the section from Ljubovija to Bajina Bašta would be passable. Drobnjak added that the PE “Roads of Serbia”, together with the contractors, would make sure that the works on the bridge in the length of 35 metres, worth around 60 million dinars, would be completed by the beginning of a new year.
The Commissioner of Mačva District, Vladan Krasavac, pointed out the excellent cooperation with the Serbian Government and the line ministry, which had been crowned with the commencement of the construction of the bridge on the Sava as part of the project of motorway construction and expressway Ruma-Šabac-Loznica and remarked that the collapse of that bridge had cut off the communication on the regional road Mali Zvornik-Ljubovija-Bajina Bašta, a very important section for that region and the only link of the Drina Valley with Western Serbia and also Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
The Head of the Municipality of Ljubovija, Milovan Kovačević, thanked the Deputy Prime Minister and her team for the visit and joint consideration of the problems of this municipality’s citizens.
