As part of the activities of the "Road Executives Network" with the support of the Transport Community, on June 3, 2026, an Annex to the Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Helsinki, which refers to cooperation in the field of strengthening the climate resilience of road infrastructure in the Western Balkans region.
Jovana Đurović, assistant director of the Sector for Strategy, Design and Development, signed the Annex to the Memorandum in the name of Putevi Srbije, confirming the determination of Putevi Srbije to further improve regional cooperation in the field of management and protection of the road network from the consequences of extreme weather conditions.
The signatories of the Annex emphasized the importance of joint action on the eve of the challenging increase of climate changes that affect the safety, functionality and sustainability of transport infrastructure, while special emphasis was placed on improving coordination between road managers, exchanging information in real time and strengthening capacity for quick reaction and recovery in the event of emergency events.
It was emphasized that the transport infrastructure in the Western Balkan region is exposed to significant climate risks, including floods, landslides, extreme temperatures and snowfalls, which further confirms the need for a systemic and joint approach in the area of network planning and management.
The annex defines cooperation that includes mechanisms of mutual technical assistance, data exchange and joint capacity development through training, simulations and exchange of good practices, with the aim of strengthening climate resistance, safety and sustainability of the road network in the region.
Putevi Srbije continues to actively contribute to the development of modern, safe and climate-resistant transport corridors, as well as to the further strengthening of regional cooperation in the field of road infrastructure.
