Works are underway on the rehabilitation of the bridge over the Danube River on the state road I B order number 14, on the Smederevo - Kovin section.
In addition to works on the carriageways and pedestrian paths, the rehabilitation includes works inside and outside the Kovin Bridge box.
The Kovin Bridge is 1.4 km long, of which 1.2 km is made up of a steel structure, while 2x100 m is made up of a concrete access structure.
The reinforcement of the steel structure of the bridge, which is the most significant part of the works, is planned to involve the installation of 500 tons of steel.
Complete anti-corrosion protection of the steel structure of the bridge will also be carried out, which involves removing the existing paint by sandblasting and applying layers of paint in the C3, C4 and C5 protection systems.
The entire asphalt pavement, along with the waterproofing, will be removed and replaced with a new layer of waterproofing and asphalt in two layers.
The plan is to completely replace the pedestrian and barrier fences, as well as install new lighting.
