Roads of Serbia, in order to accurately and precisely inform the public, hereby informs you of the following:
The project documentation, plan and program of works within the framework of the Iverak-Lajkovac Expressway Construction Project, also envisages the reconstruction of the left and right traffic lanes of the I B state road number 27 in Popučke, the so-called “double lanes”.
First, works were planned on the left roadway, which included complete works on storm-water drainage, replacement of the road structure, installation of lighting, construction of sidewalks and installation and marking of traffic signals.
The completion of the works was postponed several times due to unforeseen problems encountered by the contractor:
- numerous illegal connections to the City of Valjevo sewage systems,
- unresolved drainage of coastal waters that endanger surrounding households,
- construction of a new sewage collector as part of the “Clean Serbia” project,
- inadequate cadastral bases
- and other installations such as telecommunications and electrical lines…
Due to the above, only the left traffic lane was completed before the New Year holidays and the winter period. The reconstruction of the right traffic lane was postponed until favorable weather and other conditions are obtained.
In order to increase safety and ensure safe traffic on both lanes, the 500m of the right lane in question was covered only with a wearing layer as part of regular maintenance, until conditions are created for the continuation of the works.
Works on the right traffic lane has begun on May 21st 2025 and include the installation of two drainage collectors, replacement of the road structure, protection and relocation of infrastructure installations, construction of sidewalks and curbs, installation of remaining lighting, as well as the removal of any illegal connections to the sewer.
Traffic from the right lane has been redirected to the left lanes for a length of approximately 420m.
The planned completion date for the works is 30th June 2025, if weather and other conditions permit.
The Public Enterprise “Roads of Serbia” appeals to all road users to respect the posted traffic signals and adjust their speed to the road conditions.
