Today, December 24, 2024, the left tube of the Munjino Brdo tunnel was bored.
The Munjino Brdo tunnel is located on the section of the E-763 "Milos Veliki" highway, from Pakovraće to Požega. The tunnel is designed with two tunnel tubes, one for each direction of travel. The length of the left tunnel pipe is 2755.75m, while the length of the right tunnel pipe is 2740.14m. The roadway width in the tunnel is 7.70 m.
Transverse pedestrian passages were designed for pedestrians to cross from one tube to another in case of an emergency in the tunnel, which can also be used by emergency services vehicles. Also, two tunnel niches and extensions were designed for each tunnel tube for the removal of broken vehicles.
Transverse driving passages (passages for vehicles to go from one pipe to another) are designed at 1000m/1006m distance from each other in the longitudinal direction. Due to its dimensions, the transverse carriageway enables the passage of buses and long trucks from one pipe to another, in case of an emergency (accident) event. In the middle part of this transverse corridor for the passage of vehicles, a space is reserved for the electric power substation.
The construction technology is implemented according to the so-called New Austrian Method (NATM), which implies that one of the 12 designed types of tunnel substructure is applied based on the mapping of the tunnel excavation, and the measurement of deformations along the extent of the excavation.
