The Belgrade Bypass Sector B5, from the interchange Orlovača to Straževica, together with the left tube of the tunnel Straževica, has been officially opened to traffic today, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vučić. The opening was also attended by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Mr.Tomislav Momirović, Minister of Finance, Mr. Siniša Mali, Chargé d'affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, Mr. Tian Yishu, Directors of the PE Roads of Serbia, Mr. Zoran Drobnjak, and of the company Koridori Srbije, Mr. Aleksandar Antić, Mayor of Belgrade, Mr. Zoran Radojičić, Deputy Mayor, Mr. Goran Vesić, as well as the leaders of the Chinese company Power China and Azerbaijani AzVirt engaged in the Bypass construction processes.
President Vučić said that this section would be operational as of 6 p.m., and emphasized that he is proud that there are 10 motorways and fast roads currently under construction in Serbia. Mr. Vučić announced the construction of the extension of the Belgrade Bypass to Pančevo, with a big rail-and-road bridge on the Danube River.
On this Bypass section, 3.1 km long, the left motorway lane with three bridges has been completed, as well as the left tube under the hill Straževica, 760 meters long. The Chinese company Power China, Azerbaijani AzVirt, and domestic sub-contractors are also engaged in the construction of Sector 6 of the Belgrade Bypass, from the tunnel Straževica to Bubanj Potok, where the Bypass will be connected to the motorway Belgrade - Niš, Corridor 10.
The length of the Belgrade Bypass from the new bridge on the River Sava at Ostružnica to Bubanj Potok is 20.4 kilometers. The value of works is EUR 207 million, out of which 15% is provided by the budget of the Republic of Serbia, and 85% by the loan of the Chinese Exim Bank.
By the completion of works up to Bubanj Potok, a total of 47 kilometers of the motorway from Batajnica to Bubanj Potok will be constructed.
