The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Tomislav Momirović, visited today the works on the interchange “Surčin”, on the segment under construction of the bridge spanning over the main canal of reclamation system Galovica on the road section Novi Beograd – Surčin.
The Minister emphasized that the works have not stopped in spite of low temperatures. “Today is minus 10ºC, but we're giving our best to meet the schedule of works on every construction site, as well as on this shortest fast road which is less than eight kilometers long, but nevertheless extremely important transit route to Belgrade and Surčin", said Minister.
He said that the land expropriation procedure will be ended soon, and announced that in the coming months the works on the interchange Jakovo will commence so that the road could be opened to traffic by the end of the year.
The responsible contracting engineer, Mr. Nemanja Mutić, said that this section is under the works on concreting the abutment of the bridge over canal and making cuts for rainwater drainage, which are possible under low temperatures. He added that more than 70% of earthworks on the road route are completed, something which will enable the contractors to commence carriageway construction as soon as the first warmer days appear.
The state road Novi Beograd – Surčin, 7.9 kilometers long, will comprise four bridges over reclamation canals and two overpasses over local roads.
The section is designed for the speed of 80 kilometers per hour, and it will consist of two carriageways with three traffic lanes each and green belt between them, two footpaths, and, on a certain segment, a cycling path. Upon its completion, it will stand for the shortest link between Belgrade and the motorway E-763 („Miloš Veliki").
The Contractor is a Chinese company „China Communication Construction Company“.
