The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Mr.Tomislav Momirović, with the representatives of the PE “Roads of Serbia”, Assistant Director, Mr. Slavoljub Tubić, and Head of the Department for Technical Preparation of the Sector for Investments, Mr. Aleksandar Kostadinović, visited today the works on Belgrade Bypass, on the Sector 5, from the interchange Orlovača to the tunnel Straževica.
On the Sector 5, 3.1 km long, the works on the bridges Nos. 13, 14, 15, of a total length of 1,222 meters, are being carried out, as well as on 733 meters long tunnel Straževica. The tunnel is already constructed with paved surface course, and the works on tunnel tube equipping are in the progress.
When visiting the construction site, Mr. Momirović highlighted his contentment with the continuity of works and daily presence of 300 workers at the construction site: I am satisfied with the results achieved with the Belgrade Bypass project. This Project commenced in 1989, and we should not lose another day in realizing it. We have rally given our best to complete all the projects, especially since the President brought the infrastructure into the focus in his political activities five years ago, after fiscal consolidation. Everything that has been missed to be done over the past few decades, we are finishing in just a few years“, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Mr.Tomislav Momirović, pointed out.
This project is implemented by the line ministry in cooperation with the PE “Roads of Serbia”, Chinese company “Power Construction Corporation of China Ltd”, Azerbaijani company “AzVirt”, and domestic companies as subcontractors. The Minister held a meeting with the associates before visiting the works in construction camp of „Power China“, and asked for extra acceleration of works in order to open this section to traffic as soon as possible.
„You can see how many trucks is passing by. This is the most congested section in the country. People will be proud of everything we have achieved“, zaključio je Momirović.
There are ongoing works also on the Sector 6, from the tunnel Straževica towards Bubanj Potok, where the Bypass will be connected with the motorway towards Niš.
Continuation of Bypass from Bubanj Potok to Pančevo is also planned to be constructed. This implies construction of new bridge over Danube at Vinča, and this way the whole Bypass would be 69 kilometers long.
