Minister Momirović Visited Construction Works on Belgrade Bypass

The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Tomislav Momirović, and Executive Director of the Sector for Strategy, Designing and Development, Mr.  Miodrag Poledica, visited today the works on construction of Belgrade Bypass, and held the working session in the construction camp “Power China” with associates and contractors’ representatives, the Chinese Company “Power China:  and Azerbaijani Company  “AzVirt”.

„I am proud of the results we’ve been achieving as regards the project on the Belgrade Bypass. We are really committed to this engagement, and results are, according to my opinion, obvious. The Belgrade Bypass, which is being talked about for more than 30 years, needs to be completed by the end of the next year”, Minister Momirović pointed out.

The Minister explained which works remained to be done:,,The Sector 4 under this Bypass was opened to traffic in April this year, and I hope the tunnel “Straževica” will be also opened over the next few months. After that, the works which remain to be done cover another eight kilometers of the final phase of this section, including the interchange “Bubanj potok” which will be the hugest in our country”

Stressing the importance of the Bypass, the Minister said that “the transitory traffic will be completely relocated from the city center, which will entail less air pollution in the center of Belgrade”.

Mr. Miodrag Poledica, Executive Director of the Sector for Strategy, Designing and Development, explained that this project covers three sectors, 20.4 kilometers long. The Sector 4 has been opened to traffic, and the aim is, as he said, completion of the Sector 5, which begins at the interchange “Orlovača” and ends at the tunnel “Straževica”, within the next few months.

“In the tunnel “Straževica”, which is 800 meters long, all construction works are completed, and the phase of the electro-mechanical equipping of the tunnel will begin soon”, said Mr. Poledica, and mentioned that the most complex part of the Sector 6, 9.5 kilometers long, implies the construction of full motorway profile which is 30 meter wide, tunnel “Beli potok” and the interchange “Bubanj potok”.

The Minister Momirović pointed out that there is more than 1,200 kilometers of motorway and fast roads currently under construction in Serbia. He added that each of these projects are approached with maximum severity -  the motorway to Čačak has been constructed, there is ongoing construction of Morava Corridor, Fruška Gora Corridor, Loznica and Šabac will be connected with the fast road, and motorways between  Šabac and Ruma, and between Belgrade to Zrenjanin will be also constructed.
