The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Tomislav Momirović, the director of the PE "Roads of Serbia", Zoran Drobnjak and the Acting Director of the "Corridors of Serbia", Aleksandar Antić, visited today the works on the I B category state road no. 34 on the section Golubac - Donji Milanovac, in the length of 49 kilometres.
The President has pointed out that the complete Danube highway - the road from Golubac, via Veliko Gradište and Donji Milanovac to Kladovo will be reconstructed: "By the end of the year, the road Donji Milanovac - Kladovo will be completed and then 35 kilometres will remain, and by June next year we will connect everything and have a fantastic Danube highway."
The execution of works on the section from Golubac to Donji Milanovac started on 19th August in the direction Golubac - Donji Milanovac, and on 23th August, 2021, works in the direction Donji Milanovac – Golubac will begin.
The rehabilitation of that section includes the removal of all existing asphalt layers, as well as the replacement of the complete pavement on locations where it is necessary. Improvement of the drainage system and replacement of horizontal and vertical traffic signage and of the dilapidated crash barrier as well, have been planned.
The investor for the works on the rehabilitation of the road Golubac - Donji Milanovac is the Government of the Republic of Serbia – the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the PE "Roads of Serbia", while the contractors are the road companies PZP "Požarevac“ and "Srbijaautoput“ d.o.o. Beograd.
The PE "Roads of Serbia"'s supervising authority, Vladimir Petrović, said that the works on the section from Donji Milanovac to Rudna glava, in the length of 21 kilometres, were in their final phase and that the works on the section from Golubac to Donji Milanovac commenced successfully: "At the moment, the existing asphalt layer is being removed, and after the completion of the works, the section will have a new asphalt layer with a width of 14 centimetres”.
The total cost of the renewal of roads in the east of Serbia is around 45 million euros, which is a huge investment, President Vučić has stressed. "We are doing so much, we create, this is the pearl of Europe, not just Serbia. Everyone who comes here can see for themselves. That is something incredible, but in order to have people come back and stay here, we must do everything to make these places similar to those in Switzerland and Austria", Vučić said.
