Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Tomislav Momirović, together with the Acting Director of the PE “Roads of Serbia”, Zoran Drobnjak and his associates, has visited the winter service road maintenance base in Vrčin. Minister Momirović has wished happy holidays to road workers and thanked them for their effort and hard work since, as he said, “everyone has been working during the holidays, without a break and with great efficiency.".
"All motorways and I and II category roads as well in Serbia are passable, although it has been snowing continuously " Momirović said and appealed to road users to realize that the PE “Roads of Serbia” maintains 15,700 km of roads and, together with the Ministry, provides support to local self-governments when the priority roads have been cleaned.
Minister Momirović has appealed to drivers not to travel without adequate winter equipment, especially heavy vehicle drivers, since they have been the cause of the majority of traffic delays on the sections covered with snow.
Acting Director of the PE “Roads of Serbia”, Zoran Drobnjak, said that road workers were working continuously and that traffic was back to normal on the part of the motorway at Crvena Reka, on the eastern leg of the Corridor 10, where traffic in the driving lane had been closed for several hours. Drobnjak added that traffic on that part was not completely closed, but was flowing in the overtaking traffic lane.
The Head of the Winter Service in the PE “Roads of Serbia” and the Executive Director of the Sector for Maintenance of I and II Category State Roads, Zoran Stojisavljević, explained that, due to larger quantities of water on that spot, materials from a structure under construction have been deposited on the segment of the motorway at Crvena Reka.
