Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Tomislav Momirović, has visited, together with the Acting Director of the PE “Roads of Serbia“, Zoran Drobnjak, works on the construction of the tunnel Laz on the section of the motorway Е-763 from Preljina to Požega. This has been Minister Momirović’s third visit of that section since the beginning of his term of office, which speaks of the significance of the project, and the works have been speeded up to the maximum so that the section could be completed within the foreseen deadline.
“Works on the motorway Preljina – Požega roadway are making great progress, especially when it comes to the breakthrough of the tunnel Laz, the longest tunnel in Serbia. One of the most demanding roadways, 30 km long, has been the subject of special attention and support of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure because it is the most demanding and the hardest one'', said Minister Tomislav Momirović during the visit and added that maximum efforts are being made to complete the works by Saint Nicholas Day, which can be achieved by working in three shifts, 24 hours a day.
Minister Momirović has praised the cooperation with the PE “Roads of Serbia“ and the Chinese partners as well: “60 people are working on one tube and the works are carried out on four locations. When this section is opened for traffic, it will provide us with a basis to continue with the construction of other roads towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. In these difficult circumstances, we, as a country, are moving forward“, Minister Tomislav Momirović said.
The section Preljina – Požega represents an extension of the motorway “Miloš Veliki“ towards the border with Montenegro and is key for connecting the regions and strengthening tourist and economic potentials.
