The Project “Improvement of Banat Connectivity 2 - IBC 2” Serbia - Romania is a follow-up of successfully implemented first project “Improvement of Banat Connectivity” within previous program “INTERREG IPA CBC Romania – Serbia”.
The goal of the Project is to enable through improvement of road infrastructure in border regions a better communication between individuals and business entities in border region of both countries in order to create healthy basis for optimal economic and social development .
Partners in the Project, the Public Enterprise “Roads of Serbia” as a leading partner, Municipality Jimbolia from Romania, Town of Kikinda and Regional Center for Social and Economic Development „Banat“ from Zrenjanin, have been together for 24 months, from August 1, 2019, until the end of July, 2021, engaged in this Project.
Within the Project, the PE “Roads of Serbia” have performed the works on rehabilitation of I B Category state road No. 15, on the section from Kikinda to Nakovo in the length of 1800 meters, valuing app. RSD 56,000,000.
“Since the Project has been successfully realized, the PE “Roads of Serbia” expects that it will, with its partners, realize other projects that are co-financed by the European funds for cross-border collaboration,” said Mr. Milorad Martinov, the Project Manager from the Sector for Strategy, Designing and Development.
„It is necessary to mention that the Project is unique also in that that it has been implemented under specific circumstances”, Mr. Martinov points out. “It is realized during the pandemic of the virus Covid-19 lasting for almost a year and a half out of two years scheduled as a project time-frame, which required additional efforts“.
“None of us has had experience in working under such circumstances”, explains Mr. Martinov. “Normal communication between partners was hindered, borders were closed, entire communication was limited to phones, mails and video links, thus significantly complicating the work”.
„Yet, in spite of everything, we have managed to complete everything within the specified time-frame and to successfully implement the Project. This showcases how much we, as partners, have understood the seriousness of the situation, and made additional efforts, each of us in their field of expertise, to complete all the activities provided for in the Project“, Mr. Milorad Martinov emphasized.
The PE “Roads of Serbia” is always ready, in accordance with its capability, to help local communities to improve their lives and work, something that has just happened through implementation of these two successfully completed projects.
