Miodrag Poledica, assistent director of PE „Roads of Serbia“, took part as a panelist at the 12th EUSDR Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, učestvovao je kao panelista na 12. EUSDR godišnjem Forumu „Strategija Evropske unije za Dunavski region”, under the title EUSDR Entering the Decade of the Future, held on October 24 and 25, 2023 in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia.
Miodrag Poledica presented on the second day of the Forum at the session Mobility & Multimodality - The Impact of Large Projects for Improved Connectivity. He pointed out that the goal of the Republic of Serbia is to be well connected, through all modes of transport, with all the countries in the Region, because Serbia borders 8 countries, four of which are members of the European Union and four are not, and that Serbia wants to have good transport connections with all capitals and major cities in the Region.
"When it comes to the construction of highways," stated Poledica, "by 2019, Serbia has completed a major investment cycle with the completion of the construction of Corridor X, e.i. the completion of the remaining 160 km of Corridor X through Serbia and the completion of the 120 km highway from Belgrade to Čačak, on direction towards Montenegro". "At the same time," Poledica said, "in years 2019 and 2020, a new investment cycle has started, with 10 new projects for the construction of highways, expressways and bypasses around major cities in Serbia".
Poledica also pointed out that two road routes are of particular importance for the Republic of Serbia, namely the "Belgrade Bypass" highway, which is part of the Pan-European Corridor X route, and the "Miloš Veliki" highway, which is part of the Belgrade-South Adriatic highway route, from Belgrade to Montenegro.
"The importance of those projects and their contribution to better connectivity and mobility," Poledica pointed out, "is best illustrated by the data on travel time, which is significantly shorter." He emphasized that the additional effects and positive impacts of the projects are also visible through the improvement of the state of the environment and the reduction of traffic accidents on those road routes.
