Today, July 21 2023, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, a contract was signed on the construction of the Northern Bypass around Kragujevac, as part of the LIID project.
The contract was signed by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, acting director of PE "Roads of Serbia" Zoran Drobnjak and director of "Srbijaautoput" Zvonimir Marković.
The total value of the project for the development of local infrastructure and institutional strengthening of local governments in the Republic of Serbia (LIID project) is 265.2 million euros, and 145 units of local government will receive non-reimbursable funds , in the form of a grant, that they will be able to use for various projects of rehabilitation and reconstruction of traffic infrastructure, construction of pedestrian crossings, bicycle paths or spaces for public transportation, increasing the resistance of traffic infrastructure to climate change, development of smart cities and sustainable urban mobility and the development of institutional and personnel capacities of local government units.
At the press conference held after the signing, President Vučić said that representatives of local governments must show knowledge and commitment, as well as desire, in order to achieve the best projects in the interest of the citizens of Serbia, while Minister Vesić emphasized the importance of this project in the development of the region.
