ROAD TRAFFIC SAFETY AGENCY, TRAFFIC POLICE DIRECTORATE, PE “ROADS OF SERBIA” AND “EKO SERBIA” – TOGETHER IN ACTION “DRIVE FRESH”

The Road Traffic Safety Agency, the Traffic Police Directorate, the PE "Roads of Serbia" and "EKO Serbia" presented today, July 4, 2023, at a press conference, a joint campaign dedicated to increasing traffic safety - "Drive Fresh".

The media were addressed by the Acting Director of the Road Traffic Safety Agency Branko Stamatović, the Head of the Traffic Police Directorate Slaviša Lakićević, the Head of the Department for Public Relations at the PE "Roads of Serbia" Ljerka Ibrović and the commercial director of "EKO Serbia" Nataša Vukšić.

The "Drive Fresh" campaign aims to reduce the number of traffic accidents, especially those with serious injuries and fatalities, especially during the summer months when the intensity of traffic on the roads in Serbia is increased.

Therefore, the importance of the joint performance and support of the natural partners in this task to the "Drive Fresh" campaign: the Road Traffic Safety Agency, the Traffic Police Directorate and the PE "Roads of Serbia", is obvious.

On Wednesday, July 4, 2023, due to the importance of the campaign itself, the PE "Roads of Serbia", as the manager of state roads, started, using the VMS gantries, i.e. changeable traffic signage on the motorway, to draw the attention of traffic participants by displaying the slogan and the main message of the campaign - "Drive fresh!Take a break every 2 hours".

As part of the campaign, numerous activities in the field were planned and media support was specifically requested so that the messages could reach as many traffic participants as possible and the general public.

Ljerka Ibrović, on behalf of the PE "Roads of Serbia", pointed out that driver fatigue is one of the biggest causes of traffic accidents and requires special attention from both drivers and the public, because in accidents that occur as a result of fatigue, there is a 50% greater chance for the outcome to be fatal or to result in a serious bodily injury.

Ibrović emphasized that the motorways being built in the Republic of Serbia are in accordance with the European standards, with an appropriate number of rest areas, parking lots and service centers, which gives drivers the opportunity to stop and take a break due to fatigue. Ibrović particularly appealed to the media to be socially responsible and support such campaigns.

After the press conference, two camper vans that will be part of the promotion of the campaign were shown, with messages in two languages, Serbian and English, "Vozi odmoran" and "Drive fresh" and all other promotional materials, and the campaign's promo team answered the journalists' questions.
