In the presence of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Miloš Vučević, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade, Tomislav Momirović, Minister of Interior, Bratislav Gašić, ambassador of Azerbaijan, Kamil Khasiyev, acting directors of “Roads of Serbia“ and “Corridors of Serbia“, Zoran Drobnjak and Aleksandar Antić, as well as the representatives of the Contractor and the local self-governments, today, 14 October, 2023, the motorway from Ruma to Šabac with the bridge over the Sava was officially opened.
The section of the motorway from Ruma to Šabac is 24.6 kilometers long, has six overpasses, eight bridges and three interchanges – Ruma, Hrtkovci and Drenovac.
Three new toll stations were constructed on the motorway:
- TS “Ruma" with 11 traffic channels,
- TS “Hrtkovci" with 6 traffic channels and
- TS “Šabac“ with 8 traffic channels.
During the address, President Vučić emphasized that this motorway connects Srem, Mačva and Podrinje, as well as Bačka and Belgrade, that Mačva and Srem gain a new perspective with the opening of this section from Ruma to Šabac, and that the expressway from Šabac to Loznica will provide a better connection between Western Serbia and Republika Srpska.
Today at 18h the traffic on the newly-constructed motorway section was officially released.
